About Me
Welcome to Dog with a Torch
I’m author Lacy Nuzum, a wife and mom with a passion for helping others to fall in love with Christ and His Church.
The website gets its name from St. Dominic Guzman. When Dominic was in utero, his mother (Blessed Jane of Aza) had a dream that her child was dog with a torch in his mouth. As the dog ran, he set the world ablaze. A holy monk interpreted Jane’s dream, and said that Dominic would set the world ablaze with the light of Christ. When he was grown, St. Dominic received a mission from the Blessed Virgin Mary to spread the Rosary to the world. Now, as then, the Rosary overcomes impossible odds, sets our hearts afire with grace, and primes us to cooperate more fully with the Holy Spirit.
I have a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and her Rosary, and I identify very much with the image of a dog. Though I often lack polish and sophistication, I believe firmly that if I rest at the feet of Jesus and Mary, they will use my dog-like persistence to do good things.
I am a Catholic convert, former teacher, former stock broker, and mother of four. I use this unusual paring of skills to serve my family and others wherever I am able.
In my spare time, I read, write, pray, enjoy the outdoors, and do laundry…. lots of laundry. This is a perfect excuse for me to listen to a wide variety of podcasts. I spend lots of time trying to get my children to drink from their own water bottles instead of mine and giving them normal household instructions in outrageous accents.
